The Don Vasco Soul Circuit

GO TO THE MAP

Don Vasco chose the town of Pátzcuaro to be the seat of the diocese of Michoacán, while in Tzintzuntzan, the ancient capital of the Purépecha Empire, he founded the Santa Ana convent. Indigenous communities and trades flourished all around; such is the case of the village of Santa Clara del Cobre (renowned for its copper handicrafts). Other religious orders also came and settled in Morelia and other nearby towns, where they built architectural wonders such as the convent of Santa María Magdalena de Cuitzeo.
