This archaeological site is located on a raised mound 1 kilometer away from the center of the town, with a panoramic view of Lake Pátzcuaro. It was a ceremonial and political center of the Purépecha people.

Here we find volcanic stone structures placed in semicircle with a rectangular section, which differ from most pre-Hispanic sites in Mexico. Recently restored, this buildings remain in good condition in addition to other smaller constructions.

In the site’s new museum visitors can appreciate the archaeological pieces found in the excavation works which still take place in Tzintzuntzan.
