This park is traditionally known as Uruapan’s National Park. It is located in a ravine formed by the Cupatitzio River, which is dubbed the "river that sings when it falls". The lush nature that surrounds the springs and the paths found across the park make this a very quiet and beautiful natural landscape.

The ponds are named after old local legends. At the end of the park we find a spring known as the "devil's knee" due to the curious shape of the surrounding rock formations; this spring is part of the Tzarácuara waterfall, with a 60 meters height. The water springs throughout the place are crystal clear with turquoise tones offering a unique natural spectacle. Nowadays the Park is divided in the Barranca del Cupatitzio National Park, and Preservation Area.
